Meet the Artisan

Norma Vazquez Gutierrez

Born and raised on April 9th of 1988 in the locality of San Miguel Aguasuelos, municipality of Naolinco de Victoria in the state of Veracruz. She is a ceramist artisan that began this beautiful trade by watching her mother and playing around with black mud, she wanted to create a little piece and that lead her to grow and improve the quality of her work day by day. She received her first award at the age of 9 years old on September 28th of 1997, in the regional contest of San Miguel Aguasuelos in the kid's category.

This was a great boost for her career because it motivated her to improve her creativity and technique with the support of her mother. She decided to pursue excellence and was able to work on the artesanias (Mexican Folk Art) also keeping up with her studies giving, as a result, many state, regional and national awards.

Day by day she continues learning and growing in the developing of excellent black mud art.
